Delivering Live OTT Content Over Broadcast Networks
Q-Live™ is a solution that enables the delivery of Live OTT content (HLS or DASH) to smart devices using traditional broadcast networks such as Satellite, Terrestrial, or Cable to efficiently distribute live streams over multicast.
At the head-end, a Q-Live™ server retrieves unicast OTT live streams from a packager’s output. The Q-Live™ head-end then converts these streams into a multicast signal, which is then modulated and transmitted via the designated broadcast network.
On the receiver side, the M-Store™ agent integrated in the receiver reconverts the multicast signal back into unicast, making the content immediately accessible through an API to all possible devices. Users can view live streams on connected smart devices, PCs, or tablets via the receiver’s Wi-Fi network. Additionally, live content can be accessed on Smart TVs and standard televisions via an HDMI or even analog connectors.
Q-Live™ supports both continuous linear live channels and live events. While linear channels provide an uninterrupted broadcast, live events have a predefined start and end time, as determined by the content editor. This feature allows operators to offer special event-based streams, such as sports matches or cultural events, as part of their existing channel bundle or as a premium add-on for users to enjoy, and represent an additional revenue source.
Q-Live™ ensures efficient, scalable, and cost-effective distribution of live OTT content over broadcast networks, enhancing the accessibility and monetization of live streaming services.
